Description

This is a beginner’s sewing video. Facings are used to stabilize, reinforce, and strengthen the face fabric. While this video concentrates on garment sewing, window treatment valances are also given facings, if the lining might peek at the bottom hemline. Interfacing is used to stabilize and add extra body to the facing. Interlinings are used when making buttonholes– to keep the buttonhole looking clean and to keep small ravels away. Fusible interfacing should be applied with an iron, then allowed to cool, so that the interfacing can bond with the face fabric. Understitching can be used to keep the facing from rolling to the outside of the window treatment or garment.
