Description

Learn how to make bias binding tape without any tools, other than a long needle. Bias binding makers are useful for making specific sizes of bias binding, however, sometimes a custom size of bias binding is needed. You can quickly and easily make your own bias binding by placing a sewing needle in an ironing board. The needle should enter and exit the ironing board cover, so that the center space between those two points are the size of your finished single fold bias binding tape, plus a tiny bit more. For example, if you want 1/2″ double fold bias binding, then you would need single fold bias binding tape that was slightly over 1″ wide. So you would push the sewing needle into the ironing board, and then a bit more than 1″ from that point, the sewing needle would exit. Cut a point on the end of the bias strips. Slip the point underneath the center of the sewing needle. Pull the bias tape, so that the sides fold inward as it passes underneath the sewing needle. Press as you pull, making sure that the raw edged of the bias binding strips are centered.
