Description

This is a step by step demonstration of how to recover a dining room chair, adding a boxing and welting (cording) to the dining room chair seat. In this first part, the seat support is cut from plywood or oriented strand board. Foam is cut to fit the board, and the edges of the foam are wrapped with another layer of foam. Bias strips are cut and joined together to sew covered cording, using jute cord. The boxing and welt are sewn to the dining room chair seat. The back of the boxing and welt is joined together at the back of the chair seat. In part 2, the dining room chair seat is finished, with the cover being attached to the seat board and then finished neatly with base welt.
