Description

How to upholstery a dining room chair with a boxed and welt cushion. These videos show how to recover a dining room chair with boxing and welting (cording). In the first upholstery video, the chair cushion was made and the seat cover was sewn together. In this video, the chair cushion is covered in Dacron. Then the cushion fabric cover is pulled over the foam covered board, the fabric cover is centered, and then the dining chair fabric cover is attached to the bottom of the wood seat board. The foam cushion is carefully pulled and centered on each side, making sure that the top welt (cord) is the same distance from the bottom board on all sides. The dining room chair boxed seat is finished by adding base welt (or cord) to the bottom of the board. An upholstery cardboard tack strip is added on top of the welt, and the dining room seat is finished off with a dust cover on the bottom.
